Appetizer Layered Greek Dip

Make-Ahead Appetizers That Will Wow Your Guests

When hosting a cocktail party or shower, I like to prepare as much as possible ahead of time so I can actually enjoy the event. Here are some of my favorite make-ahead appetizers that will save you time and leave your guests impressed.

Tortilla Pinwheels
Lauren Habermehl from Taste of Home offers a simple and delicious Tortilla Pinwheels recipe. While you can find pre-made versions at Costco, making them fresh with good ingredients is a game-changer. She recommends making them no more than 24 hours ahead of time to prevent soggy tortillas. Plus, there are so many fun variations – you can add meat, swap the cheese, or even create sweet pinwheels.

Antipasto Kabobs
Lauren Paige Richeson, also from Taste of Home, has a fantastic recipe for Antipasto Kabobs. This appetizer is versatile, allowing you to mix and match ingredients. Lauren uses tortellini along with olives and cured meats, but you can get creative with your choices. She recommends marinating the ingredients for a day, but assembling the skewers just a few hours ahead of time to avoid sogginess.

Below are some of my favorite platters, plates and bowls:

Hanky Panky Appetizers
A nostalgic favorite from the 70s, Hanky Panky Appetizers are simple to make ahead. You can prep them before broiling, and they can even be frozen for a few months. When you’re ready to serve, simply pop them under the broiler for a quick 2-3 minutes, and you’re all set.

Pimento Cheese
Jenn from Once Upon a Chef offers an easy-to-make Pimento Cheese recipe that’s perfect for casual parties and showers. If you haven’t tried pimento cheese before, you’re in for a treat. It’s creamy, flavorful, and just right for spreading on crackers or serving with veggies.

Cheese Ball
Jenn also shares a great Cheese Ball recipe that’s perfect for any occasion. You can use a combination of goat cheese and blue cheese for a rich, deep flavor. I opted for all blue cheese, and it was a hit! Serve it with toasted baguettes or crackers, and it will disappear in no time.

Sweet and Spicy Roasted Party Nuts
Kate from Cookie and Kate has a mouthwatering recipe for Sweet and Spicy Roasted Party Nuts. These nuts are addictive, so be warned! They’re perfect for nibbling while guests mingle.

Antipasto Platter
Holly from Spends with Pennies offers an Antipasto Platter that’s not only beautiful but also perfect for make-ahead prep. With several options for mixing and matching ingredients, you can customize it to suit any event.

Layered Greek Dip
Laura from Joy Food Sunshine shares a vibrant and delicious Layered Greek Dip that can be prepared up to 5 days ahead. Serve it in a glass container to showcase all the colorful layers, and pair it with pita chips for the perfect bite.

These make-ahead appetizers are perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a casual gathering or a more formal affair. They’re all easy to prep, and most can be made well in advance, giving you more time to focus on enjoying the party!

Which of these make-ahead appetizers are you most excited to try for your next gathering? Let me know in the comments below!
